Racism, a deeply ingrained belief system that perceives superiority or inferiority based on race, has played a significant role in shaping histories and civilizations worldwide. While it has influenced wars, societal structures, laws, and the rise and fall of nations, it has also profoundly affected the daily lives of millions, even billions, of individuals. Despite the efforts to eradicate these prejudiced ideologies, racism continues to echo in our modern societies. An annual report, 'Racial Equality Rankings,' sheds light on various countries’ efforts to attenuate racial disparities. The ranking is determined by assessing peoples' receptivity towards having a neighbor of a different race, the more accepting the people, the higher the country ranks.
In the premier position, we have New Zealand. The country's multicultural society embraces diversity, boosting its standing in the rankings. Canada secures the 2nd spot, with its populace exhibiting a high degree of receptivity towards different races. The Netherlands comes in 3rd. Known for its open-minded citizens and diverse communities, the Netherlands offers a welcoming environment for multiple races. Following closely is Sweden, in 4th place. The inclusive societal norms in Sweden contribute to its high ranking. 5th in line is Norway. Its inclusive and accepting approach towards diverse racial backgrounds testifies to its high ranking. In 6th place is Switzerland, where cultural diversity is a norm rather than an exception. Denmark attains the 7th position, signifying its citizens' acceptance of racial diversity. The cosmopolitan nature of Belgium places it in 8th position, the societal ethos conducive to racial harmony. Close behind, we have Finland in the 9th position. The Finns' tolerance and acceptance of different races are noteworthy. Last on the list, but certainly not least, is Ireland. Its diverse population and increasing acceptance of different races have earned it the 10th spot in the rankings. Top 10 Least Racist Countries:
